CASE STUDY: DESIGNING A MODEL PORTFOLIO
The goal of this project was to design a sleek and professional portfolio website for Marta, a model specializing in brand campaigns. The website needed to showcase her versatility, professionalism, and work in a way that captured the attention of potential clients. However, the journey was far from straightforward, presenting unique challenges that pushed me to adapt and refine the design process.

RESEARCH
To ensure the website met both client and audience expectations, I conducted extensive research into model portfolio trends and user behavior. I analyzed similar websites to identify effective design patterns and gathered insights on how potential clients browse and engage with model portfolios. This research informed decisions about layout, navigation, and visual hierarchy, ensuring the site was both visually appealing and functional.

At the outset, the brief was to design a web-based portfolio that aligned with Marta’s personal brand and resonated with her target audience. However, during initial discussions and research, it became apparent that a mobile-friendly version of the website was also essential, as most of her potential clients were browsing on mobile devices. This required a shift in focus and redesigning components to work seamlessly across both platforms.
One of the standout design elements, a dynamic component effect, worked beautifully on desktop but proved incompatible with mobile layouts. This realization led me back to the drawing board to conceptualize a responsive design that preserved the website’s visual appeal and interactivity across all devices.

Another significant challenge was the availability of quality visuals. Marta initially provided limited and inconsistent photos, often screenshots or low-resolution images. To move forward, I sourced placeholder images from her online profiles and existing work until she could provide high-quality photos. This iterative approach ensured progress while allowing for updates when better assets became available.
Additionally, Marta didn’t hand-select the images she wanted featured. As a result, after presenting initial designs, she frequently requested changes but struggled to articulate her vision for those updates. This required patience and collaboration to refine the site’s content, balancing her feedback with my expertise to achieve a cohesive final product.
